Yoga School

So you’ve been practicing yoga for a while now. You’ve noticed that your body feels better, maybe your mind feels more calm, and you want to understand the why behind that.

And now you want to know how to practice yoga the “right” way.

(Spoiler alert: there is no one right way. But there’s a way that works well for you, at least right now, and that might change in the future.)

You want to know how to move your body in a sustainable, pain-free way that will allow you to continue to practice yoga (and do all the things you love!) for years to come.

You want to learn more about this whole “yoga off the mat” concept.
(Who knew there was more to it than making shapes with your body?)

And maybe you even want to teach yoga yourself one day.

Join us for Yoga School. Whether you want to teach yoga or you want to learn as much as you can, we have a path for you.

The Heart of Wisdom Yoga Yoga School introduces you to the history of yoga, provides you with an anatomical lens for practicing modern yoga, and builds a foundation for studying Hatha yoga in the Vinyasa style.

Our Yoga School is different because it’s offered on a rolling basis year round.

Every weekend is designed to stand alone. Start and finish Yoga School on your own schedule.

You can drop in for one weekend, a few, or enroll in the entire Yoga School curriculum. Whether you want to learn more about how to practice yoga best in your body or how to teach others, we’re here to teach you.

Our curriculum is registered as a 200 hour Teacher Training with Yoga Alliance.

The HOW Yoga 200 Hour Teacher Training is accredited by Yoga Alliance. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, students are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance if they choose.

Let’s get started: Intro to Yoga

Offered on a quarterly basis, this ten hour module is your introduction to our yoga philosophy at Heart of Wisdom Yoga.

You’ll meet the key texts and historical figures you need to know, learn a broad overview of the history of yoga and how it became what it is today, and learn about the key concepts that weave together the many different paths of yoga.

The fine print: Yoga School Policies

WHAT TO EXPECT

Yoga School runs from 9 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday of the weekends listed. We begin and end promptly on time each day. Additional teaching lab sessions will be scheduled at mutually agreeable times outside of these weekends. You can also expect to have homework between sessions including reading, practice teaching, taking classes, and/or observing classes.

Official graduation as a Certified Yoga Teacher depends upon successful completion of teaching your final class and passing the final exam, which are both scheduled at your convenience outside of training hours once you complete all required modules and teaching labs

TUITION

We expect students to be on time for class, after breaks, and after lunch. Please let our faculty know if you will be late. Attendance at all scheduled meetings, including teaching labs, is mandatory for graduation from the Yoga School program. However, we understand that life happens, including illness, work commitments, and/or emergencies. Should extenuating circumstances impact attendance, students are expected to work with the lead trainer to make up any missed hours the next time a module is offered. No refunds will be issued for missed sessions, although attendance may be deferred to a later date at the discretion of the lead teacher.

Pay in full option: You may pay for Yoga School in full prior to starting your first module for $3250. You will have two (2) years from date of payment to complete all required modules and teaching labs. Any modules not completed within that two year period will be priced at the regular drop in price.

Pay as you go option: You may pay for Yoga School modules as you go at a reduced rate of $250 per module, for a total tuition rate of $3500. A nonrefundable enrollment fee of $500 secures your spot in Yoga School at Heart of Wisdom Yoga. This payment includes registration for one Intro To Yoga module, all required books, the Yoga School manual, and ten hours of teaching labs. This enrollment fee also includes ten (10) class credits to be used by the enrolling student only to satisfy the ten classes required for Yoga School graduation.

Please enroll confidently as no refunds will be granted for individual modules taken on an individual basis.

For Yoga School teacher candidates:
A non-refundable enrollment fee of $500 is due at enrollment to secure your spot in the program. If you withdraw your enrollment thirty (30) days or more before the start of your first module, you will forfeit your $500 deposit and any remaining balance paid will be refunded; books must also be returned and the ten class credits will be void.
If you withdraw your enrollment between 30 and 14 days prior to module start, you will forfeit your $500 deposit and 50% of balance paid; the remaining 50% of balance paid will be refunded to you; books must also be returned and the ten class credits will be void.
No refunds will be given within 14 days of the start of your first module. Program tuition fees are non-refundable once you begin taking training modules.

We reserve the right to cancel any training before it begins. In that case any payments applicants have made will be refunded in full.

What past students say…

  • “I believe Heart of Wisdom Yoga School to be the most carefully constructed and mindfully curated 200 hour training in the Nashville area. I will never be able to say enough good things about my experience and how well I was prepared to begin to teach. Kim is so thoughtful in her approach and so well prepared and generous with her knowledge. I am grateful that a yoga school like this exists.”

  • “The HOW Yoga Teacher Training is the perfect marriage of the science of the body, the deep heritage of yoga, and the exploration of the self.”

  • “My 200 hour at HOW Yoga School was an amazing, holistic experience. Kim is a great leader and teacher, and her focus on anatomy and providing space for your students was core to my learning and in turn, teaching.”

  • “If you're considering yoga teacher training, go for it! It's a transformative journey that deepens your practice and connects you to your mind, body, and soul. Choose a teacher who inspires you—someone like Kim, who beautifully blends anatomy, mindfulness, history. The supportive community you'll find in training is invaluable, as they’ll be there to help you grow and share the experience. Teacher training should be more than teaching shapes—and this one is about learning how to embody yoga in every aspect of your life.”
