Weekend 2: Keeping Busy

My second weekend here has come and gone, and it was another fun-filled weekend. I told someone today that I literally made a list of things I wanted to do while I'm in Nashville, and then broke that list down into what to do each weekend, and I could see the amazement on their face. You could say I LOVE being organized...I was wiped after last week and couldn't wait to crawl into bed at 10:30 on Friday night. It was all I could do to keep my eyes open through half an episode of a show on Netflix!Saturday dawned a little rainy, which was perfect weather for my planned activity: shopping. There was a "block party" going on down in 12South, so I wandered around there and did some shopping and general exploring. IMG_2359There are some great shops and restaurants down there - I love that area! My favorite purchase of the day was a "Music City" candle from that will remind me of summer well into the cold days of winter up in Evanston. Later on I hit the semi-annual sale at Nordstrom at Green Hills Mall, which wasn't quite as successful as my excursion in 12South. Luckily Sephora was there to save the day, and I got this pretty little card.IMG_2360Guess you could say I've been a loyal customer this year!Sunday I spent the morning in bed recovering from a bit of a migraine, with the help of Hitch and a bagel. By midday I was ready to go and set off on my planned adventure: a tour of the Ryman Auditorium. It was so cool to see such an historic building. I'm hoping I can find time to see a show there while I'm here! The view from the stage. Pretty cool!Beautiful windows in the back.IMG_2370Later that afternoon, I went for a hike at Percy Warner Park (where I neglected to take pictures), which is easily one of the more striking places I've seen in Nashville. The entrance to the trail is accessible via a huge set of grassy/stone stairs, and the trail itself is very hilly, which makes it challenging but fun.  It's even on the bucket list that's in the publication I spent time editing today:Those stairs. Woof.I'll definitely be going back there! All in all it was another fun, busy weekend. This week has been busy so far with scheduling for Vanderbilt Visions groups and putting the final touches on a publication for first-year students, among other tasks. It's going to be a busy but important week as we prepare for the Class of 2018 to arrive on campus in about 25 days!  I can't wait for them to get here!
