Food Friday: The Flipside
A lot of my life revolves around eating. To be honest, I plan my day from meal to meal and snack to snack. This is a gross oversimplification of each day, but I really do take great pleasure in food and also believe it's really important to put great fuel into your body. So on Fridays I'm going to talk about food in some capacity, whether it be a fun new restaurant I've tried in the last week, my favorite meal-related experience for the last week, or what have you.Last Friday, less than 3 hours after I got back from my first trip, I went to a new (to me) restaurant called The Flipside. It's basically home to chicken prepared any kind of way you can imagine, and it was SO. FLIPPIN. GOOD. (see what I did there?). I went with one of my coworkers who had been out on the road the week before me, so it was a great chance to catch up and debrief after our first trips. We each ordered a different dish and shared them, which was totally the right move. She ordered the Greenway (top) with arugula, avocado, and red wine vinaigrette. I got the Brunch (bottom) with fried eggs, bacon, and cheese. Both were delicious and neither were finished because it's just that much food. All the chicken dishes can be served breaded or grilled, and you can get TOTS, my favorite of all the sides. They also serve milkshakes as big as your head.I wasn't kidding about the "as big as your head" thing. Clearly this is going to be a new staple. There's no better way to spend an evening after a trip than catching up and stuffing your tummy.Side note: Flipside is in one of my favorite Nashville neighborhoods, 12 South, which is home to many delicious restaurants and is just a super cute area. I'm trying to make it my goal to explore all the neighborhoods in Nashville through their restaurants, which is a pretty fun goal! So far 12 South and Germantown are two of my favorites, along with Hillsboro Village, but really you can't go wrong anywhere in Nashville. There is no bad food here. Only bad workouts (as in, not working out enough to make up for all the delicious food).Happy weekend!
