Five Things I Loved This Week | Dec. 10

This is becoming a Friday night/Saturday morning tradition for me, and I love it!

  1. Manifestation/Intention Setting. So here I was, listening to my favorite podcast That’s So Retrograde, and these lovely ladies are always talking about setting intentions and manifesting things you want to happen into your life. And I’ve thought it’s cool but hadn’t really considered it otherwise. AND THEN I REALIZED...I had already done it thanks to Wake Forest! Seriously. Back before I started school, alllll the way back in the day in 2008, they had us all write an essay about who we would be when we graduated (okay so maybe I’m the only one who listened to instructions but still) and I happened to find it (MAGIC) when I was packing up my room to move out senior year. And lo and behold, as I read my essay, I realized that everything I had written about had come to be in some way!! How wild is that? Seriously, I knew I was meant to be a Demon Deacon, but this takes my Deacon pride to new heights. Of course I’m gonna start intention setting on a regular basis now after this realization. Act as if and it will come! #manifestdestiny
  2. Manduka eQua Yoga Mat Towel.  I’ve already mentioned my newfound love for yoga especially of the heated variety. And where there’s heat, there’s sweat. I’m still breaking in my Manduka PROlite Yoga mat but loving it already, and this mat towel has been a lifesaver in those hot classes. It’s a nice soft surface that keeps me from slipping all over the place when things get steamy. Highly recommend.
  3. Life without migraines. It’s been just over 3 weeks since my last migraine and let me tell you, it is glorious. Don’t get me wrong - I still feel like I’m looking over my shoulder all the time, trying to make sure I don’t get one tomorrow. I do feel like I’ve found a good rhythm...I just wish I could figure out what exactly that rhythm is.  More to come on this topic.
  4. Gingerbread Houses. We had a holiday party for the students who work for our office earlier this week, and they built some pretty epic gingerbread houses. Everything from Kirkland and Stambaugh, two campus landmarks, to our construction site, which has become another campus landmark. It was so fun to hang out with the students and watch them blow off a little steam before finals!
  5. Glamour’s Women of the Year Issue. I’m a little late reading it but they honored some incredible women (though I’m not sure I get Gwen Stefani being on the cover). I was especially entranced with Simone Biles, the founders of #BlackLivesMatter, Bono (the first man of the year), Nadia Murad, and could not stop reading Emily Doe’s “what’s next.” Wow.
